About Me

I am an experienced Cinematographer, passionate about telling stories visually and am focused on preparation and collaboration. I strive to serve the story and the Director's vision, all the while working within schedule and on budget. I take pride in my dedication to story.  Absorbing the script allows me to work from an instinctual place, informing where I point the camera and emphasizing point-of-view.

I have over 16 years of industry experience, backed by a M.F.A. degree in Cinematography from the American Film Institute (AFI) and a B.A. degree in Cinema-Television, Critical Studies from the University of Southern California (USC).

In between my studies, I took the less common, but arguably, the best training route towards Cinematography by working my way up in the Lighting Department. I feel that through lighting, a Cinematographer has the greatest opportunity to connect with the audience on an emotional level.

This combination of intensive education and real-world experience has taught me how to balance the Artistic, Managerial, and Technical aspects of my role as a Cinematographer.

Filmmaking aside, I love exploring and eating, both of which I enjoy through travel to such places as Iceland, Haiti, Japan, and 20 or so other countries and counting.
